I suspect these were writeen as two trilogies as there is a year's gap in time between the third and fourth books. You get 61 hours of listening (I advise keeping it as normal speed so you get the narration properly rendered) from the six books which are: 1. Survive the Chaos; 2 Survive the Aftermath; 3. Survive the conflict; 4. Survive the Unrest; 5. Survive the Trap; 6. Survive the Turmoil. The core group of journalist, Austin Merryman, his initially 14 year old daughter, Savannah touring in a campervan grieving the loss of wife and mother with veterinarian Annabelle Patterson who manages to crash-land her small plane when the EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) strikes are present throughout the books, but others fall away under the perils they face in a world where technology no longer works as we've become reliant upon it. Prepper attitude and skills are shown and lauded. Survival is more about battling people, betrayers and false saviours than the elements although travel is hazardous and the books have several locations with their pwn challenges and surprises. Therer is a sub-plot in the first trilogy of how the EMP happened and how Austin has the key to undo it. Values of family and loyalty as well as optimism are shown.

The narrator does a very good voice acting marathon in acheiving consistency and distinction within and between the characters over such a long time.

Gripping story, where suspense is a constant loyal compagnon.

The characters are worked out well and as a reader I felt very connected to them and the struggle they had to go through.

Fighting to survive, finding your loved ones back and protecting your found family are all topics on this series.

The narrator did a fabulous job, it felt even more touching with his excellent performance.
