Sound Healing for Beginners:

I never really considered sound healing before until my local yoga centre decided to run sound healing classes. I became interested in finding out more. I found this book to be very interesting and insightful. Not only does the author Angela Grace explain in depth about sound healing, she discusses many other aspects of healing and cleansing such as chakra's, humming sound techniques, crystals and more for your health and wellbeing, all very well explained. The book also comes with a free guided meditation download which I find very useful.

Somatic Therapy for Trauma:

Full of really useful information to help heal trauma, which can be easily implemented in a daily routine. Lots of information on different techniques used to treat trauma, various easy to follow exercises and an explanation of what Somatic's is, how it can help you and how to incorporate it in your life for the better. It comes with a free guided meditation and as it's an audiobook, it's great to have the narrator talk you through the exercises as you perform them. I definitely recommend this book.

This audiobooks (two in one) is more like a text/reference book, to refer to. It is very comprehensive: and covers various uses for the two techniques. More useful to a professional therapist (or when working with a professional therapist) than working on one's issues on his/her own.
It is very detailed with clear explanations. The chapters are titled so easy to find a particular section. There are many exercises for each techniques. The exercises are short and to the point (less than 5 minutes). It is a lot to take in and learn if one is not familiar with the topics so patience is needed to understand and practice the exercises. I practiced a couple of exercises and it took few repeats to understand them and see the benefit.

I picked this up because therapy was getting expensive and I was stressed out all the time. Honestly didn't expect much, but the somatic exercises are surprisingly simple to do at home. I've been dealing with anxiety for years and the breathing techniques plus some of the sound healing stuff has genuinely helped me sleep better. What I really liked is that it doesn't overwhelm you with complicated theories – it just gives you practical things you can actually do. The eye movement exercises seemed weird at first but they do help when I'm stuck in my head. It's not a magic fix, but after a few weeks I noticed I'm way less tense and my shoulders don't hurt as much. Worth checking out if you're tired of spending money on therapy sessions that don't quite click.
