About this listen

The tears of the ocean. The heart of the flame.

Lochlann Wilde is preparing for his final challenge: entering the Oriel of Fire, the most dangerous of the elemental dimensions. Acquiring the essence of fire will score him another powerful guardian, as well as complete Aphrodite’s amulet.

But the world outside the oriel has its own challenges. Sylvain has discovered something difficult about his heritage. Aphrodite also keeps dropping unsettling hints about Locke’s true nature.

Most pressing of all is the mystery of the parchment that cursed Queen Aurelia to begin with, the only clue that may lead to the truth about the Withering. Who is behind it? Why did they engineer the plague?

And how can Locke and Sylvain stop them from infecting the cosmos?

A well written story with and interesting  concept.  The characters are likeable and the narration is very good.

Enjoyable Story

I love all of Nazri Noor’s work, but this series is by far my favourite for easy listening. The story is gripping but not overly complicated and I just love all the characters, both the main and secondary ones. I didn’t expect a couple of twists in this book, especially those near the end (but I feel I should’ve seen Sylvain’s, yet I didn’t!) and I also have to note that I continue to equally love and hate Ivander Skink, but with the extra information from this story I am actually starting to lean more towards the positives!

Absolutely great listen and as always Greg Boudreaux does an amazing job of the narration. He brings the story to life in a completely different way to than when I originally read the book myself.

Such an easy listen

Sons of Sorrow is the fourth book in the Wild Hearts series, a wonderful paranormal/fantasy series with adorable summoners and their hot elf boyfriends. This series needs to be read in order since it follows the same characters and has a series arching plot.

After mastering the first three elemental Oriels, it is now time for Locke and his crew to take on the Oriel of Fire – a much more daunting task. I was really curious how the author was going to create a fire world, and was very impressed with what he came up with. It was not what I was expecting at all but it made so much sense. There were a lot of revelations about families that were made in this book (looking at you Locke, Sylvain, and Evander), but there’s still so many questions still left. The humor and action was just as wonderful and entertaining as always. The banter was terrific and I love the characters and how they are growing and developing. The romance between Locke and Sylvain is so beautiful and tender, it’s amazing to think that these two characters hated each other at first sight. There even seems to be a budding romance for our favorite pixie, Satchel.

The audiobook was narrated by Greg Boudreaux who does a fantastic job, like always. I love how Greg can voice each character so perfectly and create an immersive listening experience that’s captivating and fun. The audiobook production was well done.

More meddling by Aphrodite, more sass, banter and love from Sylvain and Locke, more adventure and twists - in short, more fun for the listener to be had!!
I am in awe of Nazri Noor's ability to make you believe in the story, to make you wish that you're friends with the MCs and part of their adventures (well maybe not the really dangerous bits ;)) Throw in the narration by Greg Boudreaux and I have been captivated by this series from book 1.
The downside? I am dreading the end of the series.....

Loving this series!
