Sunday Times Memoir of the Year 2023

It was one of the images of the twentieth century: two boys, walking behind the coffin of their mother, Princess Diana. Billions wondered what the princes must be feeling - and how their lives would play out from that point on.

For Harry, this is that story at last.

Before then, Prince Harry was known as the happy-go-lucky Spare to the more serious Heir. But grief changed everything.

At twenty-one, he joined the Army but was soon more lost than ever, suffering from post-traumatic stress and crippling panic attacks. Above all, he couldn't find true love.

Then he met Meghan. The world was swept away by the couple's romance and wedding. But in the face of sustained press intrusion, Harry saw no other way to protect his wife and children than to flee his mother country. Over the centuries, leaving the Royal Family was an act few had dared. The last to try had been his mother. . .

Written with raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is full of insight, revelation and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

A good read, if I could give more stars I would.
I wanted to read the book, (although I am not a royalist) because I am fed up of the negativety from the gutter press/media, hence me buying the book.
It's a honest account of him and the royals.
Interesting facts thrown in, kept my interest to the last page.
Harry's narration was brilliant. I admire his bravery.
Yes I would highly recommend this book.

Chapter 24 and I am hooked. Brilliant story telling. So far very interesting. It is quite different for what we were led to believe by taking a few sentences here and there.

Great listen! Poignant , honest and a real insight into the royal institution and their toxic relationship with the media . Interesting to see negative reviews, would wonder why and who , quite funny given they spent the money on the book just to whinge. Delighted to see the book doing so well despite the best efforts of sections of the media . Well worth a listen, well written, looking forward to more.

I think this is a wonderful book. It above all comes across as honest. He hides nothing and tells his story with a gentle and calm manner. Distinctly different than his family, the story is being told in his own words with insight and deep reflection of his actions and the actions of other members of his family.
A very good read/listen
