About this listen

Raven Monroe

I think I always knew I was going to die young. Like I had this… silent, invisible clock ticking down to my final moments plastered above my head. Maybe that’s why I was so reckless, crazy. Why I sought after adventure. Why nothing scared me… Except, there was always this… feeling I couldn’t shake that something was in the darkest parts of every corner, under every bed, closet, or room, like a ghost watching me. Waiting to take me. My own, personal reaper.

But it was always only during a lightning storm that I could see the outline of my reaper. No scythe. Just a tall, faceless shadow in a hood, staring at me in the dark…

That was the thing though. It was never the storm itself that scared me. Never the loud booming of thunder. Never the howling wind or the way the windows rattled. Never the sound of rain pounding against said windows. It was just that goddamn lightning.

Seems fitting, I suppose, that I’d die before my twentieth birthday during a freak lightning storm of the century… I just always thought I’d die while doing something dangerous—F*ck it. I’d even take a boring death like simply dying in my sleep from a brain aneurysm or even an early onset heart attack.

Anything.

I’d take any other way other than this...

This book is so amazing. Heather Firth & Joe Arden killed this narration. I freaking love this dynamic duo. I loved Ruby Darling's writing style, she is a new authour to me and she has blew my mind. I loved Raven & her brand of revenge. Jonas, Damon & Maverick are well rounded characters with distinct personalities and yet each one of these complicated men had something special to give to Raven. The spice🥵, suspense, raw emotions and tension in this book got me reading this in one sitting. The side characters & even the villains drew my attention. Even though book 2 Stutter is available now i still lost my mind at the cliffy ending....needless to say im jumping straight into book 2 .

Brilliant 👏❤️🥵🌶

I live for when audiobooks incorporate both voices in the other’s chapters. It’s more work but it makes the experience pleasant and personal and… raw?

They actually read the characters spoken sentences in each other’s POV

This book is a fantastic read for anyone who enjoys stories with a darker edge. The plot is compelling, the characters are incredibly well-developed, and the narration is simply superb. Joe Arden's ability to create distinct, captivating voices is nothing short of magical. While I personally would have loved a bit more character development for Maverick, that's just a minor point. The story masterfully pushes the limits of its genre while maintaining a surprising emotional softness, all without any of the usual cringe. I was so invested that I immediately purchased the sequel.

Holy moly.

This was one of the best performances I’ve ever listened to! Really can’t believe Joe Arden voices all of the male characters!

Loved the story line too! Excited to see what happens next

I find it hard to know why I loved that story so much, but I absolutely did. The craziness of the characters just pulled me along and made me grin.
Joe Arden is fricking epic in this. I’ve listened to a lot of books he has read and always thought he was one of better narrators, but this one performance is head and shoulders above…
Two thirds in and I’d had enough of the sex. I’m hoping book two has less, or maybe they introduce someone new to their family.
I’m going to get book two but I think it’s pointing towards…. I really hope I’m wrong.

Wow that was intense!
