For such a short book, 4 stars is very good for me. The pacing worked well, the chemistry between Petra and Dax was strong, and the mix of eerie legend with romance kept me engaged. I also listened to the audio, which was excellent, Troy Duran and Vanessa Moyen’s duet narration really captured the spark and intensity between the characters.
After a few misses in this series, this one finally delivered. A fun, sexy, and spooky read that I’d especially recommend in audio.

Synopsis: Journalist Petra is investigating the urban legends of New Orleans and stumbles across a tattoo shop, run by Dax, a man covered in cursed and alive tattoos. And by getting too close, she finds herself the new target of the curse!
I feel this story really leaned into the creepy and spooky vibes. I loved the New Orleans setting, the hollow man and the catacombs! This is such a good story for spooky season!
And the dynamic between Petra and Dax was fantastic. Their love language is very much bullying, and I loved their banter! Even when they were hooking up they made me laugh!
The curse and the adventure to find a the witch was a fun plot. I wish it had been a longer book, but the author managed to cover a lot of ground in a short story. It was very insta-obsession / love as a result though.
And this was probably my favourite narrator duo so far! It was a duet audiobook which I always love and both narrators suited their characters so well!
All in all, very intrigued by the author and if she will do anything else in the magical world in the future!
