About this listen

An original novel based on the explosive TV series Star Trek: Discovery!

Despite being an inexperienced Starfleet cadet, Sylvia Tilly became essential to the USS Discovery finding its way back home from the Mirror Universe. But how did she find that courage? From where did she get that steel? Who nurtured that spark of brilliance? The Way to the Stars recounts for fans everywhere the untold story of Tilly’s past.

It’s not easy being sixteen, especially when everyone expects great things from Tilly. It’s even harder when her mother and father are Federation luminaries, not to mention pressing her to attend one of the best schools that the Federation has to offer. Tilly wants to achieve great things—even though she hasn’t quite worked out how to do that or what it is she wants to do. But this year, everything will change for Tilly, as she about to embark upon the adventure of a lifetime—an adventure that will take her ever closer to the stars.

loved the origin story of my favourite Discovery character. But wow the irish/scottish/Aussie accents all sound Russian.

I really enjoyed this book as it reminded me of my childhood, Not good enough ever. Tills obviously has ADD and so have I and my son has ADHD but we get through as will Tilly.
We are So good at what we do and look at life from another angle , we see things others don’t and annoy hell.out of them as are mostly right.
Unfortunately We just don’t conform although we would love to, not fun being the ODD one out. So go for it Tills and I hope to read much more in the future.

Good for Tills

I really enjoyed this story, it was great to find out about Tilly’s life before she joined the USS Discovery.
There were great characters and great story and even adventures before Tilly joined the Discovery. Tilly’s mother “what a character”, I often felt so angry with her on Tilly’s behalf. Tilly’s friends and teachers at her school were all very well rounded characters. Tilly’s grandmother and step grandfather were lovely caring people. The story on Tilly’s father’s ship was very good and the captain was a great character. Finally this story had a well defined story and I felt that the the end came at the right time. In a few of the last Star Trek books I have listened to they had a long story but then a sudden and abrupt end. I would highly recommend this book, it was the best Discovery book so far
