About this listen

The second novel set in the Old Republic era and based on the massively multiplayer online game Star Wars®: The Old Republic™ ramps up the action and brings readers face-to-face for the first time with a Sith warrior to rival the most sinister of the Order’s Dark Lords—Darth Malgus, the mysterious, masked Sith of the wildly popular “Deceived” and “Hope” game trailers.

Malgus brought down the Jedi Temple on Coruscant in a brutal assault that shocked the galaxy. But if war crowned him the darkest of Sith heroes, peace would transform him into something far more heinous—something Malgus would never want to be, but cannot stop, any more than he can stop the rogue Jedi fast approaching.

Her name is Aryn Leneer—and the lone Knight that Malgus cut down in the fierce battle for the Jedi Temple was her Master. And now she’s going to find out what happened to him, even if it means breaking every rule in the book.

I liked how this book opens with an epic, galaxy shaking moment but then the story really focuses on four characters and how they deal with the aftermath.

Big story with great characters

What made the experience of listening to Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived the most enjoyable?

Marc Thompson is an excellent reader and performer. He does many of the star wars novels here on audible all of which are great in their own ways. The story in deceived will ,metaphorically anyway, have you on the edge of your seat as fantastically placed twists and turns happen to each character throughout.

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked all of the detail that was put into each of the main characters which makes you feel so much more immersed in the story. By the end you feel like you have know these characters for years.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I feel like every scene was brilliant but the last couple of hours really make this book worth while.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

An epic journey for any star wars fan...

A fantastic star wars adventure

Everything is relative. I like the occasional cheese sandwich, and that's what this book gives you. The author and narration (and sound effects) are excellent. I expected the standard SW fare of crazy action and emotional battles and got it.

That said, there are several places where character motivation (or is that the SW universe) feels so corny that I found myself saying 'come on - surely you could have done better'.

Cheese Sandwich : )

i liked it, good story overall, of course drew and marc is a good combo! one of the best voices!

wish it was a bit longer tho and more sidestorys with sith but overall great. A more"human" type of star wars adventure. Malgus was a badass and the story is unpredictable even tho u might seem to know

good story
