Refreshing and funny, totally relatable and an all around enjoyable listen, Bethany Lopez's Starter Wife is a winner! I love her new adult books, but I do enjoy listening to the over 40 perspective too. Whitney is recently divorced, jobless and trying to start over after 20 years of marriage. When she joins a support group, she finds a couple of friends that she can easily relate to and they form the Jilted Wives Club. Luca, a successful businessman has not found the woman of his dreams yet. Sure, he has dated, but nothing serious. When Whitney crosses his path, his life is about to change.Will Whitney be willing to take the chance on love again? Is Luca willing to take on a woman with an ex and children? This romcom had me laughing and understanding exactly these women! There is a lot of emotional baggage incurred over 20 years as well as a fear of starting new. Let alone the handsome man is younger! The kids are spot on with their feelings and I love the interaction with Luca's family and Whitney's ex. It's got all the elements to make a heavy subject into a light and enjoyable listen. I loved it and can't wait to hear the next in the series.

Amanda Miller is our story teller and she gives us a wonderful rendition of the story. Good voices, easily distinguishable characters and an easy pace make the listen fly by. It was a fun story!

This is an age gap romance but with the Female being the older of the two. Luca knows what he wants it just takes Whitney a bit longer to see it given she's not long out of a messy divorce where her ex husband Cheater. The 3 girls who have all been divorced come together to make the Jilted wife group and are there for each other through the good and bad. Cannot wait to listen to Trophy wife.
