Summary

William Stoner enters the University of Missouri at nineteen to study agriculture. A seminar on English literature changes his life, and he never returns to work on his father's farm. Stoner becomes a teacher. He marries the wrong woman. His life is quiet, and after his death, his colleagues remember him rarely.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said before about this classic novel. Not much to add to the rave reviews. I’m embarrassed to say I’d never heard of ‘Stoner’ the novel until someone recommended it on tv last week. Did a bit of research on YouTube and found their now making a big Hollywood movie based on the book staring Casey Affleck. Be interesting to see how they portray our hero. We live in hope! Movies usually are never as good as the book. Feel sad I’ve finished this read as I enjoyed it so much.
