About this listen

Fun in the sun awaits you in this sexy rom-com novella by USA Today best-selling author Mia Sosa....

No-nonsense executive Naomi Reyes can't believe she let her boss manipulate her into babysitting Donovan Taylor, the most insufferable creative director of all time. Worse, she'll be trapped on a private island with him, while a bevy of gorgeous models vie for a coveted chance to grace the cover of M-Class Magazine's inaugural Swimsuit Edition - and, if the office rumors are true, an equally coveted place in Donovan's bed. Still, if she survives the trip with no major mishaps, she'll earn a shot at landing a dream job as an M-Class writer. Easy peasy, right?

Wrong.

Donovan Taylor detests people who try to undermine his artistic control, and his boss's latest machinations send Donovan to a very devious place. Sure, Ms. Reyes will get her precious photo shoot, but it won't be what she expects. Bonus? Ruffling the feathers of the humorless exec who's never liked Donovan will be satisfying, too - assuming she doesn't drown him in the ocean first.

Let the beach games begin....

Definitely saw the ending before it even really started. Can’t say that I was surprised however for what it was… it was a good little book. I listened to it whilst I did my laundry 🧺

Cute predictable book 😂

Sun of a Beach by Mia Sosa — Quick Summary (3⭐ vibe)

This contemporary rom-com follows Jo, a recently single lawyer who impulsively escapes to a Brazilian beach resort to recover from a messy breakup. There she meets Rafael, the charming but guarded resort owner who’s juggling family expectations and financial stress. What starts as a vacation fling turns into a deeper connection as Jo slowly lets go of her need for control and Rafael confronts the pressures he’s been avoiding. Between tropical hijinks, meddling relatives, and plenty of banter, the two circle each other through misunderstandings, attraction, and the classic “temporary romance that suddenly feels very real” dilemma.

The story leans heavily on escapist vibes—sun-soaked settings, steamy chemistry, and lighthearted humor—while touching on themes like burnout, reinvention, and cultural identity. Jo’s arc centers on reclaiming joy after prioritizing career over happiness, while Rafael’s revolves around balancing duty to family with his own dreams. Their relationship develops through shared vulnerability rather than just physical spark, which gives the emotional beats some nice weight.

Three-star vibe: fun, flirty, and breezy, but not especially groundbreaking. The setting is deliciously immersive and the dialogue sparkles, yet the conflicts sometimes feel predictable and resolve a bit too neatly. Jo and Rafael are likable and easy to root for, though their emotional growth occasionally happens in convenient leaps. Overall, it’s a sunny, satisfying vacation read—charming in the moment, even if it doesn’t linger long after you close the book.

I really liked it! I really like the tension and banter between the characters and how their differences makes for a lot of humour. And I like how they start as enemies to move onto friends and working together!

But let's just give an applaus to the narrators, they really did a good job!

Bantercouple
