Summary

Our Bedtime Stories are designed to let you drift off with no nagging feeling that you need to listen through to the end. Their purpose is to let you slowly fall into peaceful, restful sleep.

With that in mind, we present actor Brian Cox—Golden Globe winner for his portrayal of media tycoon Logan Roy in HBO’s Succession—returning to his Scottish roots with these evocative tales from the Scottish Highlands.

Brian Cox, born in Dundee, Scotland, has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theater extensively, where he gained recognition for his portrayal of King Lear. He played supporting roles in Rob Roy (1995) and in Mel Gibson’s Academy Award-winning Braveheart (1995). A winner of two Olivier Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award, he was appointed to the Order of the British Empire at the rank of Commander.

This was super interesting tales of Scotland, and I listened to is whilst in Scotland. It was fitting. At times it felt more like a glossary of the different mythical creatures in Scotish folklore. Still it was interesting enough.

Short and sweet.
Factual in a mythical way!
I’m off to Scotland on holiday so I shall now be aware of more possibilities.

Brian Cox is the perfect narrator for this book which unfortunately is far far too short.

As a Scot brought up in the west coast I found this magical.

Why don’t we have a decent visitor centre dedicated to rural history in Scotland? We have the Crannog centre but it’s focus is prehistory. Alister Moffat book on Scottish genetics, ‘The coffin roads’, ‘Sunset Song’ and ‘The Stone of Destiny’ by Iain Hamilton are all good reading for those interested in learning more?

Melodious and interesting

I really don't much care what it is Mr Cox is narrating. That voice, oh that voice. It is simply magical.

So even the ultra-sceptical I managed to finish this recounting of the gaelic superstition.

Brilliant stuff!

Oh the narration!
