Summary

One disaster bi single dad. One sexy plumber on a house call. One hot-as-hell romance.

Rhys

If I was a hot mess before becoming a single dad, my life’s pretty much an on-fire garbage can now. Okay, maybe that’s a tad melodramatic—my bestie/baby momma/ex-girlfriend is still awesome, currently in the throuple of her dreams. And my kiddo Sammy’s amazing, albeit exhausting. I’m the one who’s too intense and rambling, too obsessed with random trivia, too liable to set dinner on fire. Essentially, too much for any relationship.

However, when a hottie plumber drops by to fix our toilet—thanks, Sammy—and gives me his number? My luck might just be turning around.

Cole

After my dad moved to a retirement community, he left me with the big, old house I grew up in and a whole lot of loneliness. I thought by now I’d be settled down, but no one’s looking for the guy who likes long hikes with his dog, stargazing, and fixing shit around the house. They want fun, entertaining, flashy—not me.

Except when I give Rhys my private line for an emergency house call, I show up for the job to discover it’s a date. It seems like I might’ve met the one man on earth who’s just as interested as I am—if only we can find the guts to admit it.

I’m always game to try a new author, and Katherine was new to me. I hadn’t, to the best of my knowledge, listened to a book narrated by Dylan Rockwell. I’ll start with his narration – he did well. Just…it felt a little over-the-top at times. He put a lot of emphasis on the words. I encourage readers to listen to the sample to be sure that narration style suits them. Eventually I sank into it and was okay.

The story was cute – single dad needs a plumber to help and – cue music – they wind up together. I needed some low-angst loving and this story gave me that. I have to say, I adored Sammy the toddler. Secondary characters including Rhys’s ex and Cole’s dad rounded out a great story. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Cute, hot story

Rhys has an adorable little son who made Rhys have to call a plumber. That's how he met Cole. I thought their getting to know each other and their first date was pretty sweet.
The author has a wonderful writing style because I could immediately empathize with the protagonists. She has described the family's everyday life in a wonderfully realistic way.
Rhys and Cole are very different, but both have some insecurities. I loved how their relationship developed and how they supported each other to bring out the best in each other.
Overall, Rhys and Cole are adorable together and they have explosive chemistry! What I also liked were the side characters.
If you're in the mood for an angst-free romance with a single dad, an emergency plumber and a cute toddler, this is the book for you.

The narrator, Dylan Rockwell, was new to me and he basically did a good job bringing the story to life. However, I would have liked him to give the characters a bit more individuality. Then I would have found it easier to distinguish which character he was speaking. Nevertheless, he conveyed the emotions and insecurities well.

I have lots of love for this book, my first written by Katherine McIntyre and I enjoyed her writing style and the fabulous story she created, a story that grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, it was easy to care about them too. Single dad Rhys has some plumbing issues thanks to his adorable son, Sammy, and calls a local plumber to help clear his pipes. He was not expecting a hunk of a guy to show up, Cole, and when he gave him his number to call, he did just that. I loved how these two wind up getting together for their first date. The chemistry between them was smoking hot, and it was great to watch them get to know each other and watch their relationship grow and morph into something more. I also enjoyed getting to know the characters and learning their backstories. This heartwarming and wonderfully plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Katherine McIntyre, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Dylan Rockwell did a great job bringing these characters to life and story to life. He understood the characters he was portraying, giving each their own voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. Rockwell set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen.

Sweet, uncomplicated story. Rhys, single dad, friends with his ex meets Cole, plumber. Instant attraction which, after a few missteps, they work up to a solid romance. Nice characters, loved Sammy (the kid), his mum (Rhys's ex and bestie). Overall, a low angst, fun story.
Dylan Rockwell is new to me. Good, solid performance - I knew which character was on deck at all times. He showed a lot of enthusiasm for the steamier scenes :) I quite enjoyed his performance!

Enjoyed it :)

Dylan gives heart to both men's characters and makes it an easy and enjoyable listen throughout. I think there could have been a little more variation/individuality in each man's voice but I still got their insecurities and attraction for each other.
What a wonderful start to a new series from Katherine McIntyre! Give me a single dad romance and I'm first in line for it but it's also a low angst, opposites attract story with both men wary about how they may not be good enough for a new partner.
Rhys is a fast paced, single dad with a lot of mental energy but is also quite a mess as he is forgetful and darts from one thing to the next, often suddenly and with no clear path. Luckily, this is something that quiet Cole finds adorable and completely attractive. Rhys in dad mode even gets him hot under the collar, which is another area that they are perfectly matched in. I can honestly say I wasn't expecting that level of intensity and heat between them but it just feels natural and like they were meant to be together for that and everything else.
Their unofficial first date is amusing with wires getting crossed but it turns out perfectly and shows them what is possible with each other. There are a lot of fun and sweet scenes, especially if they include Rhys's son, Sammy, with a couple that has each man worrying about what they perceive as their shortcomings that may keep them from having a relationship. It's thanks to meddling friends and family that things move forward and bonds are made between them all making a wonderful and eclectic found family group. I can't wait to read more from this group.
