About this listen

A lighthearted lesbian romance about shattering comfort zones and finding your place in the world where you least expect it.

New Yorker Hayley Reed is so over life, her crappy apartment, and her two jobs as a cook and bartender. When she wins a contest to swap lives with someone for a year, all expenses paid, she's ecstatic. That is until she finds herself on a remote Australian cattle station with basic food, empty views, and an attractive butch station hand who clearly dislikes her.

Jenna Dwyer wouldn't live anywhere except Ghost Gum Station. It'd be bliss except now she's stuck mentoring a clueless American city slicker who's the worst jillaroo ever to straddle a horse. But staying aloof from Hayley is difficult when she's obviously trying so hard . . . and is just so annoyingly cute.

Under the long, endless skies and despite a simmering attraction, can two such opposite women ever find a way to connect?

Contains mature themes.

This is an excellent storyline, a beautiful emotional journey of finding love and oneself in a new place. Swapping lives in a different country is hard going, but leaving is harder! Leaving love is heart breaking, surviving what might have been, what they had together. 💔
Excellent narration that is a pure joy to listen to. 🎶

FANTASTIC ROMANCE. 💖

Another sweet, gentle, heartwarming, feel good etc story from Cheyenne Blue. New York to the Australian outback is a bumpy ride.

It's a relief that Cheyenne Blue, apart from using that derogatory word "queer" which erases lesbians, has dropped her usual misguided obsession with trans ideology. Perhaps she's started to understand that brainwashing butch lesbians into thinking they're heteros, apart from being massively unhealthy, means she will soon have no lesbian readers left.

With her usual skill, CB has written a very enjoyable saphic Aussie romance that is narrated by Australian Cat Gould. Americans be warned that CG's American accents are off and also waver back and forth into Australian. However, she has a lovely warm voice and does a good job aside from this distraction. As a Brit the accents didn't really bother me.

In addition to the romance of this story, I very much enjoyed hearing about the Australian outback and its culture in this audiobook and have added it to my favourites.

A great idea for a story, very nicely done.

reality shows suck, all the producers want is forced drama for ratings.
and in part this occurs, in this tale of an Australian cowgirl, swapping life in a competition win, with a two job new yorker.
the story revolves around Haley moving to aus, hating it, but then adapting her own skills to replace the cook, and a friends with benefits relationship with Jenna, the head cowgirl.
both develop feelings, but haley has plans back in new York when her year long life swap is over.
will plans change, will love win out?
a great story and listen.
