Christian Cameron does a fantastic job at bringing this part of history to life. Peter Noble is an excellent narrator.

Again, the author recreates 14th century city/family/religious politics seen through the eyes of a knight, still rising and respected and yet despised by some of those of nobler blood.
The historical authenticity (notwithstanding this being a work of fiction) is superb and I can totally forgive the author for his detailed fight descriptions - after all, he freely admits to this being a passion. I never knew there were so many parts to a sword :-). Fights aside, the author has that great skill of making the characters large as life in the mind of the reader. Third time round and still excellent.

Finally, his epilogue gives real pause for thought about how chivalry - a set of rules for combat - has, or should have resonance in today’s world, beyond jus warfare but into such areas as law enforcement also.

Another great reincarnation of 14th century city/country/religious/family politics and conflict beautifully told
