Taken to the hills follows ex-DCI Luke Sackville on his transition into his new role of head of ethics (should have been head of security) at Filchers. His team consists of some peculiar but lovable characters ( especially Josh).
The case they are investigating is about a woman who has been accused of accepting bribes, however she cannot be found anywhere.

Soon the team notice a pattern of missing women who all work at Filchers. They begin to search into the women to see what the connect may be.

I listened to this book on audible at 1.35x. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like it as the narrator has quite a 'tough' voice for Luke and Angie's was quite annoying. But I soon got used to it and actually thought the voices were perfect for those characters.

The story overall was gripping. I really enjoy a thriller and this one didn't disappoint. It kept me constantly guessing who the kidnapper may be, what their motive and end goal might be.
I wasn't expecting the twist at the end at all.

I'm very curious about where Luke's journey will take him in the next two books so I can't wait to read and find out.

Firstly, the title is what got me. It's spooky, and yet, the cover made me feel like it wouldn't terrify me too much. Guess what? I was right.

This was a mix of mystery and thriller, with a dash of humour. I mean, they're the ethics team! Need I say more? It was just a perfect mix of the right people who came together for the right reasons. It all worked out in the end. And yet, I'm left wanting more!

The audio for this was fantastic. I really think the narrator did a great job. I was able to keep up, my confusion level was at a minimum, and I really enjoyed myself.

This is book one in a new series, and I, for one, am looking forward to more. Definitely recommend.

What a brilliant book! I listened to the audiobook version and I loved Luke and Josh the Joker as I called him. Josh is the inexperienced newbie but Luke takes him under his wing and helps him to progress in the case. What a brilliant story for Luke and Josh to follow up on! The disappearance of two women. What's the motive, who's taken them and what do they gain from it? Luke and Josh are on the case.

I could quite happily re-listen to this as soon as it finished, it was well thought out, well written and flowed. Loved the description with the interviews or "interrogations".. thanks Josh! His catchphrases made me laugh and his endearment for Luke as "Guv" was nice to hear. He's a young guy that needs guidance and Luke is there help him on the way.

I cannot wait to read/listen to more Luke Sackville stories in the future!

Really enjoyed my first book by this author - it spent time introducing the characters but when the pace picked up it was fast paced and exciting. I enjoyed the setting and really like the characters can't wait to listen to book 2

I love finding a new series and was delighted when I found this one. It’s a bit different as it’s not a police team investigating but an ex police officer in a new role in civvy street.

The plot is fast paced and keeps you guessing. The seriousness of the crimes is beautifully balanced with humour within Luke’s new team.

If you love a gritty crime story interwoven with a loveable team you can get to know them this is for you.

I’ve already bought and downloaded the next one in the series!
