amazing world building and really enjoyed all the voice actors. I'm usually pretty good at guessing where stories are going to go, but this caught me out on many an occasion!

The author’s background as a filmmaker is apparent from the first paragraph: well-written imagery, striking visuals, and a palpable sense of intrigue make this book instantly captivating.

The world building is rich but incorporated well within the story; I never felt lost or overwhelmed by the lore – on the contrary, I was keen to learn more about it. I particularly liked the exposition through religion, and enjoyed trying to piece together what had happened to this world through the Pa’s sermons.

Tales of the Risen Tide is a fast-paced, accessible adventure story appropriate for all ages.

Do yourself a favour and listen to the audiobook version if you can, because the multitude of voice actors (and the theme tune!) really added another dimension to this already immersive tale.
