I've read - and reread - every Dan Shepherd and this is one of the best. The usual excellent features are present and correct - superb pacing, realistic conversations, dark humour. But Leather gives us more - two story lines and the gripping Lex Harper. What's not to love? Take my advice - read Hard Landing first, work through every book, reread again, thank me later. And last but not least - Thornley is the perfect narrator for this genre and excels in every book. Thanks to Leather and Thornley for one of the best audible series available

I really enjoy the Spider Shepherd stories. This one had me needing to concentrate and focus rather a lot, due to the chronological and geographical shifts in the tale. With at least three distinct storylines, which obviously finally converge, I sometimes needed to rewind and listen to parts again. This isn’t conducive to absolute enjoyment! However, looking back it all made total sense; I understand why Stephen Leather wrote it this way; and it was really good. It’s absolutely worth the effort!

I really enjoyed this book.
I found it strange at first going back 10yrs but soon adapted.
Stephen Leather is a brilliant author of this type of book and I cannot wait until the next book as long as he keeps Paul Thornley as narrator.
