About this listen

Brew the beer and light the Hearth. No ifs, plenty of butts.

I’d been looking for a way to leave my old life behind, so inheriting a battered old pub in the middle of nowhere was the perfect excuse. Flying in from America, I was keen for a chance to get my head down, lick my wounds and figure out my next steps.

It turned out, though, there’s all sorts of unusual expectations of the landlord in the village of Pant-y-Giggles. From renovating the building, to learning how to brew, to embracing the Way of the Hollows, I very quickly had my hands full.

Fortunately, though, everyone was very keen to help me settle in.

Especially as the only guy in the village…

After Steel and Moonshine (Midnight Bounties), Cassius has become one of my favourite LitRPG authors. This book was my first step into the harem side of LitRPG, and I can honestly say I wasn’t disappointed. The characters are well written, the story is engaging, and it’s left me excited for the next one.

I already read the book and enjoyed it a lot, but i was amazed at how well the narrators brought the characters to live, especially Kitty Perelli left a long lasting impression, she did an amazing job with the accents, i will keep looking for more books with her in the future.
The story combines slice of life with Magic, has a relatable protagonist you can easily identify with and charming characters in a cozy setting. It begins with our down on his luck hero, out of the blue receiving an inheritance and using this opportunity to leave his old life in the States behind, to make a new start for himself in a small village in Wales as a barowner. When he arrives in Pant-y-Giggles, he is close to calling it quits instantly, the bar he inherited looks much worse than what the pictures lead him to believe, but after starting to explore the village and meeting more and more of it's inhabitants, all stunningly beautiful women, who not only seem to be quite interested in him, but are also helping him getting his bar back in shape, he quickly changes his mind and decides to give this new life a try after all.
Don't want to spoil anything, so i leave it at that, but i can recommend this book without hesitation. I personally can't wait for book 2 to be released.

Great start of a new series with awesome voice actors.

excellent production value, and narration. Hadn't read the book so didn't come into it expecting the style of humour, But once I settled into it,I found it very enjoyable, beware that the spice is fairly frequent and detailed but at the same time fitted the characterisation of those involved and carried the story along well rather than feeling added in as some can.

A little tongue in cheek but enjoyable
