Summary
Lieutenant Connor Morgan of SFPD’s SWAT division wasn’t looking for love. Especially not in a man. His life plan didn’t include one Forest Ackerman, a brown-eyed, blond drummer who’s as sexy as he is trouble. His family depends on him to be like his father, a solid pillar of strength who’ll one day lead the Morgan clan.
No, Connor has everything worked out - a career in law enforcement, a nice house, and a family. Instead, he finds a murdered man while on a drug raid and loses his heart comforting the man’s adopted son. It wasn’t like he’d never thought about men - it’s just loving one doesn’t fit into his plans.
Forest Ackerman certainly doesn’t need to be lusting after a straight cop, even if Connor Morgan is everywhere he looks, especially after Frank’s death. He’s just talked himself out of lusting for the brawny cop when his coffee shop becomes a war zone and Connor Morgan steps in to save him.
Whoever killed his father seems intent on Forest joining him in the afterlife. As the killer moves closer to achieving his goal, Forest tangles with Connor Morgan and is left wondering what he’ll lose first - his life or his heart.

This is the third book in the 'Sinners Gin' series and I cannot recommend it highly enough! Rhys is a brilliant storyteller who has become my favourite author. If you have not read or listened to any books by Rhys, you don't know what you are missing!Love Comes Calling

I woukd recommend this for a bit of murder-mystery, romance & family solidarity with humour as well as the serious stuff. For the full experience, listen to them in order although it's not strictly necessary.

**AUDIO REVIEW**I LOVE this series, and it gets better and better! This is Connor's story, the eldest of the Morgan Clan, and also the straightest. He has plans, career, house, wife, children. In that order. But meeting Forest, the adopted son of a murdered music shop owner, throws all that out the window, and Connor is knocked off his plan in a most stunning way!
I love Rhys Ford, and all the books of her's I've "read" have been in audio, and I dont want wo go off in the middle of a series and switch from reading to listening, so all three (still got the novella to do yet) main books in this series have been listened to.
Ford spins a tale like no other, it has romance, drama, sex, violence, funny bits and almost make you cry bits. And this book has them all, all wrapped up in 9 hours of superb narration from Tristan James. That man could read the phone book, and make it sound so darn good!
Connor is the eldest Morgan and as such feels he sound follow in his fathers footsteps. THATS why, meeting Forest, falling in love with him, throws Connor off so much. He feels like he is going to let his Da down. And that comes across in such a sweet but painful way in the scene that Da and Connor talk. (more on Da and Ma shortly!!) This book is told from both Connor and Forest's POV, and I do love it when the main characters tell what they need to. You get all the dilemma that Connor has, flipping to the raging attraction that they both feel, flipping to the pain Forest feels about his "Mother"(and I use the term loosely!) We dont get anything from the baddie here, as we did in Whiskey and Wry, but its not missed, and whodunnit is not revealed until quite late.
I sooooooooooooo love that we get some Kane/Miki and some Damien/Sionn and all the rest of the Clan Morgan :-)
Tristan James has narrated all three of this series, and he does a sterling job. He keeps his tone even, and clear, even during the difficult scenes, those with intense emotion. Since he did do the others, and all the characters from those books, plus we meet Kiki, a younger sister, appear in this one, the voices are all the same, and clear and distinct.
I know there are two more books planned, one with the younger brother, Quinn, and then back to Kane/Miki but I would so love, I mean absolutely LOVE if Ma and Da had a story. I love them, they are such beautiful people and they love all their children, partners and extended families equally.
5 stars for the story, and 5 stars for the narration
