"Test of Time" by Harlow James is part of the "Blossom Peak" series.
It can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading "All This Time" and "On Borrowed Time" for a better reading experience.
Thank you Harlow James for the gifted ALC.
Opinions from this review are completely my own.
Tropes:
- single dad/ child’s teacher
- neighbors
- grumpy/sunshine
- close proximity
- small town
- secret relationship
- found family
- slow burn
Rhonan and Vienna meet at a bar but she ghosts him. He then finds out that she is his neighbour and his daughter's teacher.
They have a lot of chemistry and it is very hard to stay away.
She is so strong and brave. I liked her relationship with Ellis, Rhonan's daughter, a lot.
He is a grump sometimes, but he is serios and protective, especially with his daughter.
It was so good to see the relationship between them develop as they both deserve a second chance at love and happiness.
The book is emotional, well written and also has a suspenseful part.
The audiobook is narrated in duet style by Aiden Snow and Ava Erickson. They are great as Rhonan and Vienna.
Aiden has the perfect grumpy voice and also managed to bring out Rhonan's protective side.
Ava did a great job as Vienna, but also as Ellis and the other female characters.
Found family is one of my favorite tropes and in this series the friend group is like a big family.
I like that we have a glimpse in the life of the characters from the other books.
Also, the end gave us such exciting information about the next book and the main couple.
All I have to say is that the title summarizes my feelings about it: "It's About Time". I was waiting for this story since the 1st book.

Rhonan is a widowed sheriff doing his best for his daughter, and Vienna is the new neighbour trying to start fresh… with a very chaotic puppy causing problems along the way. She also ends up being Ellis’ new teacher, which adds a really sweet layer to the story and brings them into each other’s lives even more.
Their connection builds quite quietly, which I really liked. They keep getting pulled into each other’s orbit, and it all feels very natural. There’s that underlying tension from him holding back and her trying not to overstep, but the chemistry is there from the start.
One of my favourite parts was Rhonan with his daughter.
There’s also a touch of suspense that comes in later on. The final conflict felt slightly rushed for me, but it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the rest.
Overall, I had a really nice time with this one.
