This gripping dystopian novel follows Jenna Fox, who wakes up after a year-long coma with fragmented memories and shocking secrets about her body—and her family.

Who is Jenna Fox? Seventeen-year-old Jenna has been told that is her name. She has just awoken from a coma, they tell her, and she is still recovering from a terrible accident in which she was involved a year ago. But what happened before that? Jenna doesn't remember her life. Or does she? And are the memories really hers?

This fascinating novel represents a stunning new direction for bestselling author Mary Pearson. Set in a near future America, it takes readers on an unforgettable journey through questions of bio-medical ethics and the nature of humanity.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It explores a whole bunch of ethical questions and grey areas, through the eyes of an interesting main character. The narration was on point most of the time, just sometimes I wasn't 100% sure if the main character was thinking or saying a line out loud which could get confusing.

Most of the other characters were engaging as well. The love story felt very forced and unnecessary to me.

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars but the very satisfying ending made me go for the higher rating.

Unfortunately, the audio quality isn't consistent. There are some frustrating "glitches" every once in a while, sounding like the playback of a scratched CD, sometimes skipping half a sentence. I'll try and make Audible aware of it.

Many ethical questions & a satisfying ending
