About this listen
A delightful biography of a celebrated Stradivarius cello and an inviting overview of cello music and musicians by world-famous concert cellist Carlos Prieto.
The book is published by University of Texas Press.
"Music as a great adventure of mind and body: this is what Carlos Prieto gives us in this spirited book." (Carlos Fuentes)
"Carlos Prieto is a true champion of the cello." (Yo-Yo Ma)

Why has nobody briefed Mr. Arnott on how to pronounce names? All but the English ones are without exception mispronounced. I have slowly come to accept that few English native speakers can pronounce Bach properly, but this was a true cringe-fest.
The story of Prieto himself is insightful in many ways, but he more or less gives us the entire content of a (sometimes very short) section in the heading. This makes actually listening to it superfluous.
