About this listen

When four siblings are ripped apart by the foster system, one determined attorney must face corruption, danger, and deadly secrets to bring them back together.

Attorney Sabre Brown takes on a devastating case to reunite four siblings separated by the foster system. Determined to bring the Winters children back together, she discovers that their original social worker died in a suspicious car crash, and corruption within child services might be to blame.

Her challenges multiply as an obstinate foster parent blocks Bonnie, the youngest, from visiting her brothers, while Storm, the eldest at fifteen, runs away. Sabre’s private investigator, JP, does his best to find her, but just as he gets close, Storm becomes the primary suspect in a near-fatal stabbing.

Sabre faces a terrible quandary. Without Storm, she can’t reunite the family. But if she brings the girl in and the police don’t believe she acted in self-defense, Storm risks incarceration.

Sabre must prove Storm's innocence to restore the family, but as she delves into the files to uncover the truth behind the social worker’s death, she realizes a killer is watching—and may soon make Sabre the next victim.

The Advocate’s Quandary is book seventeen of The Advocate Series. Join Sabre and JP as they solve the advocate's quandary.

Oh wow. I read the book when it first came out but I still experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions, even though I knew what happens. It even brought me to tears. This author knows how to create an entertaining and emotionally charged stories that can be read in any order. The characters are human, facing human problems that most people will and should never have to face but it is done with heart and understanding that will have the reader heavily invested in the out come. Sabre and JP are the type of characters that everybody wants in there corner. In this book Sabre is just working on one case which involves four children and the struggles and problems they face alone and together. I did think the story was slow to get going, with a lot of legal negotiations but then the author shakes it all up (literally) and things get more exciting.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next alphabet case for the team.
Attorney Sabre Brown is appointed to see to the needs of a family of four children who's mother has died and there father has abandoned them but she faces hurdles every step of the way. The first challenge is to find her charges, as each child has been placed with a different family and she can't find a reason why. Can she get the family back together? Especially as somebody seems intent on keeping them apart. If an earthquake can't keep them apart then a legal system that is supposed to help them shouldn't either.
I liked the narrator. Although a few of the voices, like the smaller children had me chuckling as they sounded so squeaky.
