About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Imagine living in a world in which you were routinely patronised by women.

Imagine having your views ignored or your expertise frequently challenged by them.

Imagine trying to speak up in a meeting, only to be talked over by female colleagues.

Imagine subordinates resisting you as a boss, merely because you're a man.

Imagine being trolled by women on social media for daring to express an opinion.

Imagine people always addressing the woman you are with before you.

Now imagine a world in which the reverse of this is true.

The Authority Gap provides a startling perspective on the unseen bias at work in our everyday lives, to reveal the scale of the gap that still persists between men and women. Marshalling a wealth of data with precision and insight, and including interviews with pioneering women such as Baroness Hale, Mary Beard and Bernadine Evaristo, this is a fresh feminist take on how to address and counteract systemic sexism in ways that benefit us all.

This book is essential listening. The author details and proves so many ways in which women are ignored/ not listened to.Fascinating interviews with women at the top of their careers who have been not given the authority they deserve. I trapped my husband in the car and made him listen to it. Great big wake up call and has subsequently changed his behaviour. Listening and even asking questions. Sounds basic but so many men suffer from listening to their own voices. Thank you for this brilliant book!!!

Life changing!

Well researched, engaging and thought provoking. If any man is going to read one book by a woman it should be this one

Must for women and men

I couldn't stop listening to it... so I bought the hardback copy too - finished in 4 days. recommended it to work colleagues, friends and family.

Not just a book for women (it's not a man-bashing book). if you work with women, have female friends, or raising daughters this book is a must.

Beware, you can't put this book down

A call to arms. Gripping and convincing, yet still warm and encouraging. This book helps us better understand the authority gap that still exists between men and women, and gives concrete examples of what we can all do to combat it. All in all a brilliantly researched and fascinating book, made even better by hearing it read by the author.

A must read for men and women!
