About this listen

He wants justice

Underestimating Marcus Black is the last thing his enemies ever do. After all, the respected Earl of Westwood is a deadly threat . . . when her Majesty needs him to be. And his only goal is to avenge his brother's murder. Which would be much easier if the viciously-skilled Lady Kaitlyn Montrose wouldn't swoop in, knee him in the bollocks, and then run off with his only lead . . .

She wants revenge

Kat is determined to avenge her beloved uncle's murder and nothing will stop her. Especially not the devastatingly handsome, and equally lethal Marcus Black. The fact that he's after the same target is a complication she hadn't planned on. And as much as she enjoys taunting him, she has a job to do—one that doesn't include sparring with the infuriating man at every turn. Except Kat has a new plan . . . one that Marcus will just hate.

Now they'll have to work together . . . if they don't kill each other first

Individually, Marcus and Kat are deadly. If they worked together, they could be unstoppable. But when attraction gets in the way of vengeance, it's more than hearts on the line. And only one person can win . . .

Contains mature themes.

I enjoyed the first book in the series and was sorry that this story didn’t even dip into the Gazette that purportedly is the reason for this series (& with no reference to their friend who died, who could have been referenced/remembered in a couple of scenarios).

The story was intriguing and the plot was very clever (although I suspected a couple of characters, without really knowing why or the link), that makes it all very interesting. However, I did get tired of Cat, towards the end and felt like the story was dragged out and, in one instance, became incredulous.

Not sure if I wanted to invest in the final book in the series.

The Narrator is fabulous! I love how she switched from accent to accent seamlessly.

I Preferred the First Book

Interesting storyline but was very long drawn in places which became quite noticeable however it was a nice story with a lovely ending and I am looking forward to the next one in this series

Nice book

Loved this story and cannot wait for the next book. Cat is very feisty but just what Marcus needs.

Loved it

I listened to the first book and couldn't wait for this one. So disappointed, Kate was painted out to be so tough and able to get information. In the book though she is always one step behind the chameleon and didn't actually find out the identity until the chameleon decided to reveal that to her. Even I suspected who the traitor was. Plus she is supposed to be so strong and fearless but she really isn't portrayed as such in the book. Regretted using a credit on the book.

Not as good as the first one

Narrator ok but the men’s voices are kind of weird and a lot of words are mispronounced.

The plot is ok but the whole storyline is full of repetitions and the language, behaviours and attitudes throughout are full of historic inaccuracies.

The sex scenes are hackneyed, boring ‘filler’ and the main character is annoyingly gullible and predictable. It’s a load of garbage really- great shame as the first in the series was good.

Trite phrases, trashy padding of story and constant historic and pronunciation errors let down what could be a good story.
