The No.1 Sunday Times bestselling sensation When the Moon Hatched continues with the second book in The Moonfall Series, The Ballad of Falling Dragons…

Raeve’s thirst for vengeance continues to burn, as does her love for Kaan Vaegor – a staunch beacon from a past she’s yet to face. With Rekk’s blood still fresh on her hands, she learns the world will face its most devastating moonfall yet, forcing her to pick a path:

Chase death.

Or life.

Desperate to save his kingdom from ruin, Kaan’s crown has never felt so heavy. His many larks to scattered friends and family remain unanswered, and time is running out.

As allies merge and enemies surge with bloodlusting agendas of their own, secrets brew hot enough to burn, but none so mighty as the truth nesting within the icy depths of Raeve’s long forgotten past.

Something … Other.

Something with the knowledge to change it all.

The Ballad of Falling Dragons is the powerful second instalment in the Moonfall series — featuring an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.

There is so much happening in this sequel I don't even know which way is up (in the best way possible)! It's beautiful and clever and thrilling in a way I can't fully describe. I will definitely need a re-read to fully immerse myself again because it was just so fantastic. I chuckled, and I cried. A truly sensational sequel and the next one can't come fast enough! (But the author should absolutely not burn herself out so it comes with it comes). Shout out also to the incredible narrators; they bring it alive and I cannot wait to see where it goes next.

Picking up such an anticipated sequel to a top quality book 1 does come with a level of trepidation - this book, however, didn't just meet, it exceeded my expectations.
Parker has created an epic fantasy with romance that is complex and immersive, demanding the readers attention, the payoff worth it.
The world building is very unique - a planet that doesn't spin and has 3 distinct zones each with it's resident dragons adapted to that specific climate.
The elemental magic system feels further developed with more of the imagined beautiful language that the wielder has to sing perfectly in order to draw on its power.
There are more characters, more POVs, bringing depth and different perspectives, including a Djin type creature whose hunger for painful memories cleverly introduces key moments from the gorgeous Kaan's backstory - shaping him into the character he has become - the chemistry between him and Raeve seeps through every line.
Raeve's character continues to grow and develop as she learns brutal truths and finally begins to face her trauma.
The plot progresses at pace with some great reveals and, one in particular, completely unexpected twist, a breathtaking high stakes ending with a jaw drop finale scene.
There are graphic fight scenes, betrayals, heartbreaks, tender moments, magical creatures and more, all delivered in a gorgeous visual, metaphorical prose that has a gut-punching emotional hit.
The audio version is top quality with 4 different fabulous narrators.

Stunning sequel - delivers on every level
