Summary

The second in Catherine Jones' wonderful series about the goings-on behind the facade of the market town of Little Woodford.

The town of Little Woodford seems peaceful and picture-postcard beautiful, with its marketplace, ancient church and immaculate allotments. But behind the tranquil facade, troubles are brewing. Olivia Lewthwaite, former town councillor, pillar of the WI and all-round busybody, has been forced by her husband's gambling debts to sell their house - her pride and joy. She hates the new estate they've moved to and knows she needs to humble herself to apply for a job. To make matters worse, a thoroughly disagreeable woman has bought Olivia's beloved Grange and sets about objecting to everything she can, from the ringing of the church bells to the market stall selling organic local meat. It isn't long before the town is in turmoil.

The characters move on at a pace without losing their idiosyncrasies and add lovely touches of detail that make it feel so human.

New characters that make an impact in rather eventful ways that could so easily be in any small town!

2nd instalment is a must listen

I really loved this book and the first one. Came across them quite buy chance but from chapter one of the first book I was hooked. I loved listening to the ups and downs and trials and tribulations of the Little Woodford towns folk. I felt really invested and cared about the characters and liked how they were from differing social and financial backgrounds but they rubbed along and there was a real community spirit.

I took a chance choosing the first book as crime drama is more my scene but I am so glad I did, it was definitely a risk that paid off. I know that there are other books in the series so I'm crossing my fingers and toes that there are more audio books to come. I miss Olivia, Helen, Becks and Amy to name but a few.....although I'm not sure I would want Amy cleaning for me, even if I could afford her....LOL. I really need my next fix ! ! !

Fantastic ! ! !
