Summary

She couldn't believe that he wanted to meet her. He was famous. She was a nobody. Finally, someone could see how special she was....

When the body of a teenage girl is found in a London hotel, DI Patrick Lennon is mystified. Nobody saw her or her killer enter the hotel, and there is no apparent motive - until a second teenager is found and Lennon realises somebody is targeting fans of the world's biggest boy band.

As Lennon struggles with both his home life and his rivals on the force, the pressure to catch the killer before he strikes again reaches fever pitch. And when Lennon makes a terrible mistake that ends in disaster, he finds himself in a race to save not only the lives of more teenage girls but also his own career.

Exploring the darkest depths of the entertainment industry and the terrifying dangers of social media, The Blissfully Dead is a new masterclass in tension from the #1 bestselling authors of From the Cradle.

This is a really well written and unusual story. The characters are very well drawn. I love DCI Patrick Lennon, a very human, flawed and likeable character. This is the second in a series of books featuring Lennon. The authors say there will be more. I do wish the other 4 books by Edwards and Voss would be produced in audio format.

Excellent!

The Blissfully Dead was a thoroughly enjoyable listen, with likeable, credible characters. It has a consistently engaging plot with a good few twists and turns thrown in, leaving me with no idea of the culprit until the reveal.
It was very slightly marred by a couple of 'continuity' errors, and a few credibility stretches, but they weren't enough to detract from the story.
Simon Mattocks did an excellent job of narration, bringing the story to life. I'd recommend a listen. I'm off to see if Edwards and Voss have any more titles on Audible.

Very enjoyable, well worth a listen

I was literally grabbed by this book, just could not bear to switch off.

Particularly appreciated (one of) the authors message at the end, it was no mean feat to create a story as they did and maintain the continuity so seamlessly. Shall look for their other creations.

Held my attention.

I stuck with this, but found it very heavy going, and slightly unbelievable! I should have given up!

Having gone through the angst of teenage years with my three children, I can t help but feel that this is rather a significant piece of writing, other than being a darn good and entertaining story. It addresses the subject of cyber bullying, more and more frequent in this technological time, and the almost overwhelming adoration many teenagers feel for their favourite band, which I can remember myself from the days of The Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Now, however, the scene becomes darker, with teenage suicides from all sorts of causes, cyber bullying prominent amongst them, a too frequent happening. I found the book something of a revelation. I am going to buy it for my daughter who has two young teenagers.

Significant..
