About this listen

DI Colin Anderson is having a bad week. His conviction of paedophile Skelpie Fairbairn is declared unsafe, putting Fairbairn back on Glasgow's streets. Then a succession of strange crimes - a gangster torched alive; a teenage boy tortured then dropped off a bridge; a police suicide; a young girl tied to the river bank and left for the tide – leave Anderson with his hands full and questioning whether this array of evils are all, somehow, linked.

This novel is so sophisticated, complex, gritty and fast paced that I have immediately listened to it twice!!

Brilliant

I enjoyed this book, it did get a little complicated - but overall was well worthwhile, good characters who were believable and the story was gripping and entertaining.

Holds interest

I love a detective drama and this author is new to me. I have now added all the others in this series to my wish list!
The narration is, of course, superb - I don't know of anyone who does it better than James MacPherson! It's faultless.
I only deducted 1 star for story because, for me, there were too many characters for my poor old brain to keep up with at times toward the end. Nevertheless, I found this book thoroughly engaging and think anyone into crime drama would enjoy it.

Gripping to the end

I enjoyed most of the book but found some of it confusing, but it didn't spoil it for me
