'Britain's top dog whisperer... a canine-human Esther Perel' The Observer

Wouldn't you love to know what your dog was thinking?

The truth is that your dog is communicating with you all the time but, unless you know the signs, you aren't picking up on what your dog wants you to know.

Louise Glazebrook is a dog behaviourist, trainer and television presenter who specialises in teaching people how to understand and connect with their dogs.

In The Book Your Dog Wishes You Would Read, Louise tackles everything from bringing the right dog home, understanding body language and breed behaviour, responding to common behavioural issues, to the toys and games that you and your dog will both love.

Most dog trainers focus on the dog, but Louise focuses on you, the owner, giving you the skills and confidence to interpret your dog's needs and behaviour and build a better, happier relationship for life.

Some points like over separation anxiety it would have been good to have more steps.
Some lovely tips and pointers too - carrot in sausage to train to give medication!
Bit about good breeders - agree but sometimes impossible to really know the truth.
Now do feel worried I should never have got my puppy!

Hard to stomach in some places as it makes you realise some of the mistakes you might have made but overall a great and very interesting read that gives great insight into what’s going on inside your dogs head.

A great informative read for before or after you’ve got a dog

Louise highlights so many crucial considerations that should be carefully thought over when adding a dog to your family but sadly so many people clearly don't take this time. She talks about dog breeding and rescue dogs and so much more. If only everyone involved with dogs had her integrity, compassion and intelligence.

an important viewpoint on dog ownership

Louise,
thank you.

I am only one hour in, but had to review this book. It is absolutely brilliant. We have grown up with dogs our entire lives as a family and always provided a loving environment filled with fun and care for them, but still I did not realise how little I truly knew!

Louise gives brilliant advice on what to key things to consider before getting a dog - not their markings, colour or gender alone, but to seriously consider the breed as a whole and to be honest with yourself on whether it is genuinely a good fit for you and your lifestyle.

I recently adopted a greyhound. The one thing I really appreciated about the foster network who I got her from was that you you gave the foster team a lot of information about you as a person, your personality and your lifestyle, and they would then try and match you up with a dog they felt was an appropriate fit for you rather than you simply choosing one based on colour or gender alone.

I have only had her for one month, and so we are still in the very early stages of building our relationship. However, I really think this book is going to strengthen our progress enormously. Thank you so much for this amazing book. Highly recommend!
