Summary

Gemma never expected to be invited to a total stranger’s will reading, and she’s even more baffled when she receives a vintage set of encyclopaedias and a letter with strict instructions to read it in private

The letter contains a cryptic code; a long sequence of numbers. Wanting to keep a promise to his late wife, but also unburden his conscience, the deceased man wanted to expose a long-hidden family secret connected to a sixty-year-old unsolved murder. Gemma, the owner of The Bookworm Bookshop and her sharp-witted business partner, Mavis, must solve the code and uncover the truth. As they follow the clues, they uncover a legacy of lies from a family desperate to protect its past.

Set in the picturesque English countryside, The Bookshop Mysteries – A Legacy of Lies is a cozy mystery filled with twists, puzzles and the charm of small-town intrigue. Will Gemma and Mavis uncover the truth, or will this family’s deadly legacy remain buried?

The Bookshop Mysteries – A Legacy of Lies, the gripping sequel to A Bitter Pill and A Murder at the Church, is a must-listen for anyone who loves cozy mysteries. A Legacy of Lies is perfect for listeners who enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club and The Body in the Bookstore.

Great interesting plotline. well narrated kept me guessing and listening. I enjoy listening to these stories from this series.

Another great story.

Sadly, I feel the narrator ruined it with constantly talking in a kind of whispered state and the older characters sounding like they were ancient not 70. There was little range to her character voices. And occasions were she read like she was firing a machine gun. Made it through the book though.

A good story

Love the main protagonist, she’s sweet but has great morals and cares.
Her group of friends and supporters are growing which gives the story more warmth.

Twisty, turny & lovely
