Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

A serial killer who wants to watch you burn.

The media call him The Burning Man, a brutal murderer who has beaten four young women to death, before setting their bodies ablaze in secluded areas of London's parks. And now the fifth victim has been found.

Maeve Kerrigan is an ambitious detective constable, keen to make her mark on the murder task force. Her male colleagues believe Maeve's empathy makes her weak, but the more she learns about the latest victim, Rebecca Haworth, from her grieving friends and family, the more determined Maeve becomes to bring her murderer to justice.

But how do you catch a killer no one has ever seen? And when so much of the evidence they leave behind has gone up in smoke. . .?

Really liked the characters and the performances of the readers! Even the love aspect didn’t out me off which it normally does! First book by this author I will now try the next in the series.

Well written and enjoyable

Long but easy listen. Good characters and an interesting story. Enjoyed the performances too. Will give the next in the series a listen!

Pretty good!

There is always a fine line between modulation of the narrator's voice when reading dialogue and acting it out. The voice can need to change in order to distinguish one character from another - but full-on acting out is seldom a good idea. If the text indicates that the speaking character is upset, there's no need for the narrator to become upset. It is not a radio play. Perhaps this happens occasionally with Ms Rawlins - but the book is generally good and to be recommended.

I loved this book, I have just purchased the 2nd in this series. The inky but that I didn’t quite believe was the towel but especially when she went up stairs before her colleague. A great first one in series though!

I enjoyed Meaves personality, this dud t show a core of steel!
