About this listen

The young, sickly Irwin has seen nothing but bad luck in his short life. When his brother finally returns with a magical card for him, his luck is about to change. But will it change for the better? Irwin is sent off together with a group of youths to placate a group of sorcerers. With just the weird utility card gifted by his brother, he can only pray to stay alive long enough.

Little does he know that this is the start of an epic journey that will take him across his world and many others, gathering friends, enemies, and power as he does.

This series falls into the Progression Fantasy and Gamelit categories, but it also has many elements commonly associated with crafting and LitRPG stories.

The premise for the story is pretty good as well as the system of strength within the story. The only problem is the mc, he's wimpy, weak, lacks confidence, has no social skills and isn't particularly smart. I mean how can you follow the story of a mc with no redeeming or interesting character traits, like if he had at least one i could see myself being interested in his story. But sadly he doesn't and it causes the rest of the story to fall short by quite a lot.

For me the best way to salvage the series the mc needs to have some kind of interesting trait to himself to make them have something that others don't or it's just going to cause the story to fall flat.

Overall the writing is interesting and well done. The story just needs a better mc to follow or much more development in the mcs personality or ability to do things excluding what his cards do.

Meh mc
