About this listen

Riane Eisler believes that war and the "war of the sexes" are concepts neither divinely nor biologically ordained. Join the author as she reconstructs a prehistoric culture based on partnership rather than domination and traces the roots of the global shift to patriarchy. Eisler, an acclaimed scholar, futurist, and activist, also presents new scripts for living based on a more socially, economically, ecologically, personally, and spiritually balanced society. This script is in direct opposition to the tension and violence typical of what she calls the dominator model. Her vision is the partnership model, which today is struggling to reemerge. This program is an important contribution to that struggle.©1987 Riane Eisler (P)1997 New World Library Gender Studies Social Sciences World

"Some books are like revelations, they open the spirit to unimaginable possibilities. [this] is one of those magnificent key books that can transform us." (Isabel Allende)

The quality of the audio file was Shockingly bad. The narration had no intonation whatsoever it was quite the dullest voice I have ever heard

The subject was interesting to me, information I had not heard before

This recording has extremely crackly sound making it very hard to making out certain consonants. Combined with the reader's odd accent it's very hard to understand. I tried listening for about 40 minutes or so, going back to re-listen to bits I could not make out, but eventually gave up and returned. If you want the information in this book you'd be better off with a print version. It's also not helpful that the recording consists of one "chapter". The narrator mentions many more chapters than one (she announced chapter 4 just before I gave up). There really should be much better quality control. I've tried to be generous giving 3 stars for story but because I couldn't make it to the end I can't really be sure.

Unlistenable

I really enjoyed the book but the recording quality is terrible. it sounds like someone sat at the other end of a room with a cassette recorder with a built in mic

awful sound.

The sound isn’t great but I recommend listening - the author helps shift the lenses on patriarchy, it’s myths and of course, how it’s bad news for all humanity, in an admirable clear prose.

Well worth listening to. Mind expanding.
