About this listen

Artificial intelligence leads to shockingly real devastation in this new novel in the number one New York Times best-selling Gray Man series.

Someone is killing the world's leading experts on robotics and computers. A desperate Russian scientist approaches Court Gentry and Zoya Zakharova to ask for their protection, but before they can help, they are attacked by a team of professional assassins.

They escape, but wherever they turn, it's clear that whoever's tracking them is always going to be one step ahead. With a danger of this level, there's no choice but to attack into the threat.

There is one man who may hold the answers to all their questions. But he's gone to ground in a fortress surrounded by a veritable army. If that's not bad enough, he has a new chief of security—Court's old comrade, Zack Hightower.

I’m convinced Mr Greaney writes characters from all over the UK just to make the narrator’s job tricky. And the narrator never fails to get them wrong. Every time. A character from Nottinghamshire sounds like Dick van Dyke after several beers. The Welshman sounds Irish/Scottish and no one sounds, well, human. Which is a shame, as the story is as good as ever and the American continent characters are all fine.

Shocking accents

Had me gripped from start to finish.
This book sets up the next chapter nicely, and I cannot wait for the next chapter.

Captivating

Another amazing tale in the Gray man series. If yr a fan: it's what you've been waiting for, if you're new to the author, series or genre this will get you hooked onto all three!

Plot right up to date in 2024

Awesome addition to the serious, performed masterfully as ever, by Jay Snyder. Loving the development of all the characters as the series goes on, with one particular highlight in this book. I won't say who, but if you've read it, you know who I mean. And the ending has me seriously excited for the next one, while unable to believe I have to wait an entire year or more for it.

That ending though

I’m a huge fan of this series. It has grown on me and I’m continually impressed by the author’s efforts at keeping his books current on tech and geopolitics. Court is definitely a compelling protagonist and I’m always entertained by him.
The narrator, Jay Snyder , is really good. He holds the story together well and keeps me motivated to follow along. However it feels unfair the author keeps throwing accents at him to try. He really is bad at them. In a good way. They are so bad as to be humorous in their own right and I’m no longer cringing when he drops a New Zealand accent or unaccountably tries his hand at Welsh. I just think the Mark Greaney is doing it on purpose now for a bit of fun for the listener. He must be ?
Anyhoo, you will definitely enjoy this book. It lasts a long time and is full of genuinely interesting information that’s up to date and on the nose.

A genuinely gripping story but those accents by the narrator!
