Couldn't finish this. I kept hoping the next story would be better, but I was disappointed. I can see why some of the authors dropped out of popularity. But if you enjoy a slow read, then this collection is for you.

The mix of stories should have been enjoyable and festive but the recording quality was so bad I just couldn’t enjoy this audiobook.

The introduction says that these stories have not been in print since they were first published. As you listen you realise why. They range from the mundane to the preposterous. Only the final Julian Symons shows a spark, but even that is far from his best.

2 for the Symons, 3 as the narration is ok, but it would be a 1 if I was just rating the stories
