About this listen

The Christmas Party is a delicious audiobook full of twists and turns. At an elegant country house party, shocking secrets and unexpected romances hide just beneath the surface . . .

A must-listen for the festive season by Karen Swan, the Sunday Times bestselling author of The Christmas Secret and Christmas at Tiffany's.

When Declan Lorne, the last remaining knight in Ireland, dies suddenly, an ancient title passes with him. But his estate on Ireland’s rugged south-west coast is left to his three daughters. The two eldest, Ottie and Pip, inherit in line with expectations, but to everyone’s surprise – and dismay – it is the errant baby of the family, Willow, who gets the castle.

Why her? Something unknown – something terrible – made her turn her back on her family three years earlier, escaping to Dublin and vowing never to return. So when Willow quickly announces she is selling up, her revenge seems sweet and the once-close sisters are pushed to breaking point: in desperation, Pip risks everything to secure her own future, and Ottie makes a decision that will ruin lives. It’s each woman for herself.

Before moving in, Connor Shaye, the prospective new owner, negotiates throwing a lavish party at the castle just days before Christmas – his hello, their goodbye. But as their secrets begin to catch up with them, Ottie, Willow and Pip are forced to ask themselves which is harder: stepping into the future, or letting go of the past?

Critic reviews

An absolute feast of a Christmas read - I devoured it more quickly than a plate of smoked salmon canapés. A wild and windswept location, three feisty sisters and enough family drama to keep you quiet for hours. A real treat to get absolutely lost in. Go on - spoil yourself! (Veronica Henry, bestselling author of Christmas at the Beach Hut)
Another epic tale of love, loss, and secrets, this new book from the always-excellent Karen Swan . . . tuck yourself in under a blanket and get lost in the adventure
The most unlikely of romances is only part of a moving story of loss and the promise of second chances
Fun and great escapism

Loved the story and the narrator brought it to life. Enjoyed every minute of it.

Loved this book

When the three very different Lorne sisters are pulled together in tragedy they couldn't be more different.

I loved the relationships between stubborn Pip, the outcast willow and the prim and not-so-proper Ottie. How they struggle to function as a family amid tragedy and the turmoil of inheritance. The storylines twisting together beautifully.

All three sisters sharing one odd fate - Their love lives are in tatters. I loved this book and completed it over 2 days (if I didn't have to sleep I'd have completed it in one!) If you're a fan of Ireland/Love/Intrigue or all three. Buy it. Xx

Three Sisters, three stories of love

The three protagonists gives the plot plenty of twists and turns, which are not always easy to guess. Karen Swan writes another beautiful novel.

Beautiful and packed full of story

Yes it’s a little predictable. Yes it’s full of sentimental tweeness, but it’s also lovely.
Second chances, undying love and family bonds. What more do you need at Christmas?

A great Christmas romp
