In life I was a scientist called Fanning.

Then, in a jungle in Bolivia, I died.

I died, and then I was brought back to life...

Prompted by a voice that lives in her blood, the fearsome warrior known as Alicia of Blades is drawn towards to one of the great cities of The Time Before. The ruined city of New York. Ruined but not empty. For this is the final refuge of Zero, the first and last of The Twelve. The one who must be destroyed if mankind is to have a future.

What she finds is not what she's expecting.

A journey into the past.

To find out how it all began.

And an opponent at once deadlier and more human than she could ever have imagined.

Critic reviews

'Justin Cronin's Passage trilogy is remarkable for the unremitting drive of its narrative, for the breathtaking sweep of its imagined future, and for the clear lucidity of its language. THE CITY OF MIRRORS is a thrilling finale to a trilogy that will stand as one of the great achievements in American fantasy fiction.'
Lyrical, towering, a worthy conclusion to what will quickly become a classic of fantasy and horror literature.
'This is positively gripping... Fast-paced, chilling and utterly engrossing this will keep you on edge right until the very end. I absolutely loved it.'
Compulsively readable.
"A fitting end to one of the most ambition trilogies we've read in a while. Hopefully we'll see its like again soon."
'It is satisfying, powerful, brilliant stuff... In this day and age the word 'epic' is as overused as the word 'vampire' is mocked, but in the Passage Trilogy Justin Cronin has reclaimed them both.'
This conclusion to bestseller Cronin's apocalyptic thriller trilogy ends with all of the heartbreak, joy, and unexpected twists of fate that events in The Passage and The Twelve foreordained... a superb capstone to a modern horror thriller epic
Readers who have been patiently awaiting the conclusion to Cronin's sweeping post apocalyptic trilogy are richly rewarded with this epic, heart-wrenching novel... a thrilling and satisfying conclusion

I have read the first 2 instalments in written form, however i decided to try out the final book on audible. Unsure how i would take to audible as an avid reader,i gave it a try. For 3 days i was attached night and day to this book! it was a journey of pure excitement, obsession and joy. I am devastated that its finished. the performance was pure literary entertainmemt. i will find it hard to replace. bravo

I re-read The Passage and The Twelve before reading this so it has been an epic journey and ALOT of pleasurable hours of listening.

The story, the writing, the narration all adds up to a collection of books that go down as my favourites of all time. If you like to get stuck into a book and it's world and enjoy falling in love with great characters and follow them through the highs and lows then these books are for you! I can't recommend them enough!

I feel a little bereft now I have finished. My next audio or otherwise book is going to have a lot to live up to!!

Stunning book.. perfectly narrated!

Having invested many hours of my life in this series, I was really, really hoping for a good conclusion, and this book didn't disappoint. I'm very glad I persevered through all the hours! I loved the ending of this book. However, listening to this trilogy is a commitment - don't take it lightly!

A Great Ending to a Great Trilogy

Rich characters. Strong story. Excellent narration. I enjoyed the whole series immensely. But it loses a star for being unnecessarily long. I mean it could easily have retained all of these qualities and been about one third shorter. I did find myself making get-on-with-it gestures with my hands at times. And the multi-hour epilogue is almost entirely superfluous.

Rich, strong but VERY long

It was a beautifully crafted ending to one of the best stories I have listened in a lifetime .
I will miss the characters that have preoccupied my life for so many hours and whom I have become to know and love so much .
