In May 1996, three expeditions attempted to climb Mount Everest on the Southeast Ridge route pioneered by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953. Crowded conditions slowed their progress. Late in the day twenty-three men and women—including expedition leaders Scott Fischer and Rob Hall—were caught in a ferocious blizzard. Disoriented and out of oxygen, climbers struggled to find their way down the mountain as darkness approached. although not as exciting in characterisation of individuals as in to thin air ,I found that this book was based totaly on facts with insights by the author, and not assumptions of what others felt or guesses at reasons for certain actions , if you have read into thin air I recommend you read this to fully give the account balance ,remembering that krakaur was not in this teem and had very few insights into the mountain madness guides or clients
