A. Scott Fenney is a hotshot corporate lawyer. In the prime of his life, he rakes in $750,000 a year, drives a Ferrari and conies home every night to a mansion in Dallas's most exclusive neighbourhood. He also comes home to one of Dallas's most beautiful women, with whom he has a much-loved daughter, Boo. For Fenney, life could not be better. But when a senator's son is killed in a hit-and-run, Fenney is asked by the state judge to put his air-conditioned lifestyle on hold to defend the accused: a black, heroin-addicted prostitute - a very different client to the people Fenney usually represents... A really good story, well narrated and very engaging. Characters are well developed throughout as the story moves along. Somehow the content surrounding the law and lawyer’s is unsurprising but very engaging.

Very enjoyable.

Although on the face of it this sounds like a John Grisham , once you start to listen the story begins to unravel. Characters are too thin, motivations are illogical, and it left me wanting more. The worst bit is that the woman’s lawyer is blind to any strategy other than self defence ( in the face of a rapist ) even though she assured him she wasn’t there and was totally innocent , she just happened to have shot him with her own gun and left it at the scene of the crime ( as any and as nails prostitute from the projects would ) . He then destroys his own life trying to discredit the victim , to mitigate her killing him rather than present her actual case. As I said the logic is dodgy,

Simple story that leaves logic behind

I began to realise I had already listened to this novel, years ago. But I couldn't remember it very well, I just know I like this author.
Unfortunately, all the books of Mark Gimenez on Audible are ones I listened to when I used to seek them out at my local audio library, so it would be good if Audible got some more of this author.
If they turn up on 'plus', as this one did, I'll probably go through them all again. Always great characters, storylines with the faith element, that I love to see entwined here and there, and my only satisfaction is when evil gets overcome - cliche or not, it's the way I have to go!

Love this Author
