Although it was sad to say goodbye to Maisie I thought it was the best book in the series. All the loose ends were so well tied up and it felt like everyone was set for a happy future leaving all their ghosts behind.

the Maisie Dobbs series is one of my favourite historical mystery series because it has so much heart. this was a very fitting end.

Jacqueline Winspear always writes wonderful stories and Julie Teal’s narration brings the characters to life once again in this intriguing mystery which delves back into Maisie’s past.

Another brilliant Maisie Dobbs story

The evolution of the main character is fantastic, the description of the effect of war, an eye opening but most of all the connection with Maisy Dobbs and all the characters. Plus in this story, a lot of hope…
Thoroughly enjoyed it and would very much like for it to take life on screen.
