Shirley by Charlotte Bronte.
Emma Gregory gives a great reading of this superb novel. She uses her dry Yorkshire accent to bring out the humour and drama. While Shirley is not as good as Jane Eyre, lacking the single clear focus of Jane Eyre and the intensity of the first-person perspective, but it is still a very fine novel and I loved it. The writing is some of the most passionately romantic I have ever experienced in a Victorian novel, and there is high drama too. The book is overlong with unnecessarily long digressions in the first half which deaden the pace, but the second half of the novel is absolutely fantastic. It is so moving and heartfelt. It is also very funny in parts. This reading of this fine novel is well worth the credit even before I have listened to the others.

Well worth the credit

Great collection of Charlotte, Emily, and Anne's works. It has all of their works and everything is fully labelled so easy to navigate. Excellent narrators, too - Adjoa Andoh reading Wuthering Heights! Well worth a listen if you'd like to explore the Brontë's work in more depth.

Brilliant Brontës

My favourite stories of all time but the narration is so bad in parts that I can’t listen to them anymore! Shame…
