This book was let down by poor narration. When you find yourself drifting, forgetting what was said and finding it difficult to understand some of the narration, then no matter how good the book is, it fails.
As for the hero, Corin. I found the only heroes in this book were those who supported and saved Corin's life on numerous occasions.

brilliant storyline from start to finish with some great characters and antics within the books. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

Absolutely....

I like the story and characters, but the pace of writing and intonation of the narrator is gradually increasingly grating. Many sentences are similar lengths and delivered with similar staccarto rythym/intonation, with each sentence raising at the end, implying a questION, which begins to feel repetitive and spoils the overall feel for me, throwing me out of the story. Where the story contains speech the effect of the rythym is less, which suggests writing style and reading style maybe amplifying the effect somewhat. I persevered for around ten hours for the story, but am loosing interest and it is hard to tell the difference between a quiet drink in an inn with some friends and a heated life threatenING comBAT? if you are not sensitive to the narration the story is enjoyable, but for me it is too distracting to feel much about the characters and after ten hours I am loosing track of the story because of the rythym and pace. I would love to listen to this story if the issue could be fixed as it has potential.

story is interesting but narration is a little grating.

The ridiculous accents used by the narrator completely destroyed what is a half decent story.
His disastrous attempt at the various accents asr cringe worthy and at times even undecipherable.

It's a half decent story
