About this listen

THE COMPLETE FATHER OF LIES SERIES

BOOK 1—Father of Lies: Ruby is the most violently disturbed patient ever admitted to Drummersgate Asylum, high on the bleak moors of northern England. With no improvement after two years, Dr. Jack McGowan finally decides to take a risk and hypnotizes her. With terrifying consequences.

BOOK 2—Tanners Dell: Following the hypnosis of violently disturbed psychiatric patient, Ruby Dean, an unholy dark force was unleashed on the medical staff who tried to help her. Now only one of the original team remains—Ward Sister, Becky. Despite her fiancé, D.I. Ross, being unconscious and many of her colleagues either dead or critically ill, Becky is determined to rescue Ruby's twelve-year-old daughter from a similar fate to her mother.

BOOK 3—Magda: The dark and twisted community of Woodsend harbors a terrible secret—one tracing back to the age of the Elizabethan witch hunts, when many innocent women were persecuted and hanged. But there is a far deeper vein of horror running through this village; an evil that once invoked has no intention of relinquishing its grip on the modern world.

Loved this series. It keeps you hanging on for the next chapter. The characters are great and you find yourself willing them help or to get to safety.

The narration was already annoying me after a few minutes. I was convinced the Dr was Scottish, although the accent was terrible, until way into the story. To my astonishment, he was described as Irish. The ‘northern’ accents were just as bad. And then there were the words that were pronounced incorrectly. ‘Ob-seen-ities’, for example, was repeated many times. It was like listening to a bad English teacher reading the set book for GCSE. It was a shame because, when I could block out the voice, the storyline was worth listening to.

Reasonable story but terrible narration

I am not generally not a horror lover, I purchased the kindle versions to read after heavy recommendation.
unfriended i am more like Joey ftom friends when it comes to scary books. But, this on audio was excellent, and very manageable.

not a horror lover, but this on audio was excellent

Imagine a “supernatural” tale created by very early AI and you might come close. Story arch’s don’t make sense, characters are pointless but the worst worst thing is the narration with the most terrible accents I have witnessed. Yes I stuck it out to the end because a) I actually paid for this and b) I wanted to be able to warn others.

Dreadful
