Summary

The second book in the Cait Morgan Mysteries brings overindulgent foodie and criminologist Cait Morgan to the vineyards of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. A world-famous vintner is dead. And when a heartfelt plea to look into the matter is paired with an exclusive gourmet event in BC’s stunning wine country, Cait Morgan cannot resist. She is sure the owner of the family-run vineyard was murdered. But her companion, Bud Anderson, is convinced that the woman took her own life. That is, until death strikes once again. Uncovering obsessions and murderous thoughts among the victim’s wacky neighbours is a start. But, as Cait unravels the clues, she realizes that more lives are at stake. Can she think, and act, fast enough to prevent another death?

It took a little warming up to but I really enjoyed both the story and the performance. Good twists and an intellectually superior heroine. Lovely.

Truly enjoyed it

Thoroughly enjoyable especially as I am a Psychologist—even if the smoking of the protagonist put me off (in this day and age).

If Miss Marple had a PhD in Criminology

Frankly I’m surprised this is free! An intelligent murder mystery with real people (oh dear Goddess thank you for no stunningly gorgeous people!).

Also a salute to the author who narrates this herself admirably. It’s not an easy thing to do - often authors are not good at reading their own work, yet professional readers do not always get the right inflections - at least I know everything I’ve just heard was the way she heard it when she was writing it down.

Kept me guessing, a pleasure!

I loved the story, the narrator, the plot. I know a lot of people are slamming the narrator, however, I found her accent very restful.

Top marks
