I absolutely adored this narration as I read along with my 1906 copy but I was particularly confused by the fact the ending isn’t included?

There is an important paragraph at the very end!

Allegedly Lenin once walked out during a rendition of this play due to its rather saccharine sentimentality.
However those of us who are devout fans of his works, are used to this side of the great man.
This is possibly his most sentimental of the 5 ‘Christmas’ books.
Jim Dale does a fine job as narrator.

Dickens at his vintage, schmoltzy best. What an absolute delight. Jim Dale is a joy as narrator.

I absolutely loved Jim Dale’s narration of the third of Dickens’ Christmas stories. He really brought the book to life. I will be looking for more books narrated by him.

A wonderful reading of a lesser known story

I really enjoyed the narration by Jim Dale. He was an excellent choice for this reading.

After listening to the story I looked at a few summaries and they are telling a somewhat different story so I'm going to have to seek out the book to see what the original story was.

This was a reaffirmation of my very high regard for the works of Dickens after the disappointment of The Chimes.

I think that the fantasy element of the story in the Cricket on the Hearth was woven beautifully into the story in contrast to the way in which it was deployed within The Chimes in which I found it clumsy and unwieldy.

Well done again to Jim Dale for a fabulous performance .
