About this listen

Some heroes are born. These ones were hired… cheaply.

Thirty years after Dellerin fell to the Dark One, magic is on the brink of extinction, and demons roam freely. Dellerin's armies are stretched thin, leaving small towns to rely on whichever mercenary group is up to the task.

Enter the Crimson Hunters—a woefully underqualified band of mercenaries with more bad luck than battlefield victories. They're not elite. They're not unstoppable. But they are available… at a very reasonable cost.

What could possibly go wrong?

When the Crimson Hunters take a job defending the remote village of Treystone, the mission quickly spirals into something far more dangerous. They will face rival mercenaries, a powerful Grand Demon, and a mysterious girl with terrifying powers—and survival might depend on them trusting the very person who could destroy the world.

With chaos-woven enchantments, grand battles against impossible odds, and a cast of lovable disasters fumbling through high-stakes carnage, The Crimson Hunters is a wild ride of dark comedy, action, and heart. And at a reasonable cost.

After 12 hours listening to this I find it difficult to point to many memorable parts. It reads more like a short story that has been padded out to make into a novel. The padding being a lot of repetitive introspection that eventually becomes tiresome. Not wanting to give spoilers but the characters tend to stumble between incidents shrug and move on, this had the effect of causing me not to care much either. Thought the narrator was good.
