Not only is this book beautifully and evocatively written to the point that it reads like a novel, it is also full of insights that can help us understand our lives and what they are governed by. I absolutely loved this book - it speaks loudly both on an individual as well as a more philosophical level. Fantastic work!!!

I happen to see life and its experience very much the way Bernardo sees it and think his contribution with this book will show this to be undeniably so for anyone who reads it. To know we are not masters of our lives as we imagine to be is liberating.

I also most appreciated his examination of Eastern and Western spiritual and metaphysical traditions and how they ultimately get to the same place via different paths.

While it is (potentially) interesting, the book is submerged in the author’s autobiography. Shame. Keen to know more finding identity, meaning, and purpose in a sacrificial life, just not the author’s life. May appeal to some. Not me. Returned.
