About this listen

The road to love is paved with good intentions.

Life had never been particularly kind to Annie Ramsey. She was poor, uneducated, and without any prospects except misery and pain at the hands of her brother, or whomever he decides she ought to marry. But when a handsome, kind stranger offers her another way, she must decide if she is brave enough to change her situation or if she dares to hope for more.

Duncan Bray could not resist the urge to help the young woman he found in the wintery chill of Yorkshire, feeling driven to save her from the dismal life she lived. Taking her to London and introducing her to a new life there would provide opportunities for her beyond what she ever could have imagined. But he never dreamed how this particular good deed would change everything for him as well.

very cinderella. could use more romance

I was very surprised to hear that the main character is meant to be from Yorkshire as the accent sounds Scottish and not at all northern.

Good book

Just enjoyable story that kept interest to the end and probably pretty close to the reality of the times except for use of some Americanisms but understandable!

Lovely story twists and turns

So far, this has been the best story in the series. However, the plot of the bones is the same, man meets woman, they fall in love yet refuse to tell each other.
Also, the books are padded out with repetitive line which can get annoying.

I wish for a story where the man and woman get the falling in love part out of the way early and then face adversity together.

I still enjoyed it enough to finish the rest as I am looking forward to hearing Colins story.

A bit repetitive

This series lacks a bit of spicy for me, I can see it being a pre-teenager, teenager favourite. This book is my favourite of the series so far. A proper Cinderella story put in a way never seen before. The story has been very well written and I can’t wait to keep going to find out who the Gent is.

Brought me to tears
